mark,
love the blog. dinosaurs STILL rule the earth if you ask me.
can you speak a bit about this question of the “real” brontosauruas? by this wiki entry (that doesn’t cite any ref.), it was known since the early 20th c. that we were all deluding ourselves. why has it taken us so long to come to terms with the fact that there is no bronto?
In 1903, it was discovered that Brontosaurus excelsus was in fact an adult Apatosaurus and the name Apatosaurus, having been published first, was deemed to have priority as the official name; Brontosaurus was relegated to being a synonym. In the 1970s, it was proven that the traditional “Brontosaurus” image known to all was, in fact, an Apatosaurus excelsus with a Camarasaurus head incorrectly placed on its body.
