Squirrels like pizza
Vacation Story #1:
While walking through a park in Toronto last week, Natasha and I were amazed by all of the black squirrels. Not only do they look different than the squirrels we are used to here, but they also have a special affinity for pizza. We spotted “Squirrel A” on the ground eating the toppings off a fresh slice while a number of birds tried to approach for a bite. Then, “Squirrel B” caught on and started inching closer. This prompted A to try to drag the pizza further away and defend it. A then chased the birds away while B approached us to see if we would feed him/her. B then returned to trying to obtain A’s pizza. At some point, B walked away and then A got distracted. In the moment of distraction, Squirrel B ran back and grabbed the pizza in his mouth and ran up into the trees with it. This was not just a bite, but almost an entire slice of pizza. Take it from me, there are few things funnier than watching a squirrel climb a tree with a slice of pizza it its mouth and then run from branch to branch through the park… still clutching its hard-earned meal:
