Markasaurus Creative Writing Contest #2: The Fish Head on 2nd St.

Fish HeadI was walking out of the office to eat lunch today and spotted this fish head in the middle of a very busy intersection near my office in San Francisco. It was pristine, and looked like it had been forcibly ripped from the body to which it was once recently attached. Gulls were circling, but there was too much traffic for them to eat it. How did it get there?

Scientists in San Francisco have discovered a new breed of fish. Recently, many Morone saxatilis, better known as the Striped Bass, have been found ashore, sometimes 3 or 4 miles from the bay! Apparently, due to global warming, these fish find the bay temperature too warm and now use their fins as legs to catch the cool San Francisco breeze. Watch out folks….these suckers can grow up to 7′ long, or should i say tall?

if this is indeed a creative writing contest then here is my entry, a haiku poem about said fish:

    fish left not intact
lonely head with eyes that stare
    body was bird snack

There were tryouts for Benihana chefs across the street. One young, flamboyant chef got a little overzealous and tried to flip a shrimp into the mouth of a “customer” while the onion volcano was going off. Distracted by the onion volcano, he flipped a fish head by mistake, got way too much arch on it and it went out the window, landing in the middle of the street. A few seconds later, an old Dominican woman will come by, pick up the fish head and make soup from it.
