Miatas: What do you think?

I was walking home tonight and noticed a man and woman in a white Mazda Miata who had been pulled over by a motorcycle cop either for speeding or running a red light. They appeared to be on a date, possibly even a first date. All I could think of was “wow, I can’t imagine which is more embarrassing: being pulled over by a cop on a date, or having to pick up a date in a Miata.”

What do you think about Miatas? Yay or nay?

The question should be: pulled over on a date or Miata on a date?

I say yay to pulled over on a date. Pretty much if you don’t cry you are a stud date. If you arrive in a Miata your date will cry and nobody wants snot on their jacket unless you really know your date well.

So, I guess, if you’ve been dating for a long time, and a Miata is all you have, your date really loves you. It’s the true test.

If a guy picks up a girl in a Miata, it screams that he may be “curious” about some things and that he probably has the whole series of Will and Grace on DVD. If one is to purchase a convertible on a budget, I would suggest going with an old Chrysler LeBarron with the faux wood on the side. A LeBarron says, “I am up for anything, as long as we are at the restaurant by 4:00pm for the early bird special and I am home in time for Murder She Wrote.” How could a girl say no to that?

Thought I’d give my opinion…the Miata is probably the reason WHY he got that 1st date. The link below is a post from my blog that addresses the image problem of the Miata…

If the Miata is the reason that he got the 1st date, then he is dating a 55yo Filipino-American man in drag. That’s at least based on my recollection of the last time I saw a Miata “cruisin da streets.”

Also I am not convinced there is an image problem with the Miata, so much as there is an image solution to the Miata problem.
