Blog Action Day: Poverty
It’s blog action day again.
###
is the cost of the Iraq war
so far.
What could we have done with this money? Think of the number of people who could have been educated in our own country, the things that could have been built, the healthcare we could have and the poor people in the Middle East that could have been helped instead of turned against us.
To put the cost of the Iraq War into perspective (and the cost of the $700 billion bailout passed more recently) the entire New Deal of the 1930s cost approximately $500 billion. This included “8,000 parks, 40,000 public buildings, 72,000 schools and 80,000 bridges” not to mention the fact that it put poor people back to work.
Think about the consequences when you vote in a few weeks. Look at every person you vote for and issue you vote on and ask if that choice is merely good for your wallet, or if it will make our society a place where more people can succeed.
Yes, the New Deal put people back to work making the USA a better place to live. The recent bail out bill put money into the hands of rich bankers who immediately books a spa vacation retreat complete with massages and golfing. sick.
What scares me most is that both candidates supported the Bail Out Bill. God bless America!
Still. I think the answer is quite obvious which candidate will get my vote come November, and it ain’t the Maverick and the Wolf-Killer….
