Types Of Speaker Wire And What They’re Used For

So you want to improve the sound of your stereo system – what’s the first thing you’re going to do? Upgrade your speakers, right? Well, why not upgrade the wire too?! After all, speaker wire is one of those things that most of us never even think about. In fact, only a small percentage of people out there actually understand how cables work and what affects their performance.

What kind of speaker wire you use can have an effect on the quality of sound from your system. But if you don’t think it makes any difference (and most people don’t), there probably isn’t any point in spending money on different types and brands until you notice some problems. A good place to start though understanding what kind of cable does what is to compare the different kinds of speaker wire out there.

SINGLE vs. MULTI-STRANDED – The first difference between cables is whether they are made with single- or multi-stranded conductors. Single-stranded speaker wire has just one conductor per cable, whereas a multi-stranded version has multiple strands in each cable.

More strand = more surface area for electrical transfer = better sound

There are two problems with this though, which keep it from being so simple: 1) stranded wire is much less flexible than solid wire and 2) stranded wire tends to have a larger resistance (“measured in ohms”) than solid wire does. So when you’re doing your comparisons, the size of the wire itself is really what you’re looking at. The more strands, the better.

LENGTH – This isn’t an issue if you’re just running a subwoofer or two, but speaker wire longer than about 25 feet will start to lose its ability to transfer adequate sound. It’s not much – only maybe .05dB loss per 10 feet for shorter lengths – but still enough that it’s noticeable when listening critically. Going above 25 to 50 feet starts to become something of a pain in terms of signal transfer too due to increased resistance and capacitance (see below).

DIAMETER – When comparing cables remember this: the smaller the diameter wire, the less resistance (“assured in ohms”), capacitance, and inductance the cable has. So even if it’s several times more expensive, a smaller wire will probably sound better than a larger one. The only downside is that thinner wire tends to be less flexible which can create issues when you’re installing your system.

CAPACITANCE – This is probably the most mysterious aspect of speaker wire performance for most listeners but it basically refers to how the cable reacts with current over time. Non-copper speaker wires have what are called “dielectrics” in them that prevent electricity from bouncing around inside the cable due to outside interference (such as nearby power lines). As these dielectrics age, they begin to lose their ability to insulate, allowing electricity to bounce back and forth between the wire’s conductors. You can probably guess how this might affect sound quality – the more bouncing that goes on, the worse it gets.

INDUCTANCE – This is also a function of dielectric material (in non-copper speaker wires) and has to do with surrounding electromagnetic fields. It basically works like capacitance, but in reverse; capacitance keeps electricity from flowing freely within the wire itself, whereas inductance does not allow electricity to freely pass outside of the wire (i.e., around other objects). Basically then, using cables with lower levels of inductance will result in less interference or “noise” along your system’s signal path.

ELECTRICAL RESISTANCE – This is pretty basic stuff. There are two kinds of electrical resistance: “series” and “parallel.” You might not think a difference in type would matter, but it does because series resistance is additive while parallel resistance is not. This means that if you have two different brands or types of speaker wire joined together, the total amount of series resistance will be equal to the sum of both individual resistances – whereas the total amount of parallel resistance will remain what it was before. In other words, a single-stranded cable will always provide better sound than a multiple-stranded cable because its resistance isn’t multiplied by multiple wires.

OTHER FACTORS – The other things you should know about speaker wire are more important from a practical standpoint rather than from an audio one. For instance, the best type of wire insulation is one that doesn’t get warm when electricity passes through. Some expensive speaker wires do this better than others. Also good to know is whether the wire has a built-in amplifier – it won’t make much difference, but if you’re spending big money on the wire then you should probably get your money’s worth by getting a model with one in it (if you plan on using an external amp). Speaker wire connectors are also important because they help create a good connection between your system and your speakers.

TIPS AND TRICKS – To hook up cheap bare copper wire without any special plug-ins, just strip back an inch or two of insulation from both ends and twist them together in a criss-cross fashion. You can then slide a wire cap over them to provide protection and electrical isolation (if necessary, depending on where you’re running the wire).

Tips On How To Take Care Of Your Speakers

Recently, I’ve noticed that there are a lot of people in the gaming community who have been buying gaming speakers from companies such as Razer or other companies. More often than not, you will see these speakers being used for playing games on your computer and listening to music. There is nothing wrong with these speakers at all, but there are some tips and things to be conscious about when it comes to taking care of them.

Let’s get started! These 5 very important things that everyone should know before they purchase any Gaming Speakers!

Tip #1: The Sub-Woofer is NOT a toy

Most of the time this means that even if a speaker is listed as 2.1 (which stands for 2 satellite speakers and 1 subwoofer), there are separate inputs on the back of the subwoofer for both satellite speakers. This means that you can use more than 1 pair of satellite speakers with this one subwoofer! The only problem is that while our energy is focused on having fun while playing games or listening to music, we forget to take care of them properly. This means that while cranking up your speaker volume too high, the sound waves coming out from the satellite speakers will start to bounce off each other inside the cabinet of the subwoofer and cause rumbling sounds. What’s worse is if you were using 2 pairs of satellites with this one subwoofer and ONE pair started doing this, it would most likely go unnoticed because the other set would cancel out the rumbling sounds. So in short, it’s important to take care of the subwoofer because it is also a part of your speaker system, and moving them around can cause damage to the satellite speakers when this happens.

Tips #2: Don’t let water near your speakers

Another very common problem I’ve seen with people who purchase these types of speaker sets is that they would use them in wet areas such as by their pool or bathroom. Now, when you’re at home playing games, having fun, or listening to music on your computer, you think that nothing bad could possibly happen to your speakers… But one day while at work, the unthinkable does happen. Your kids decide to get out of school early and come home for whatever reason, they find your speakers and decide to play “water tag” in the pool (or bathroom) while you’re at work. When you come home, you see that your favorite gaming speakers are now lying on your floor in pieces…

If this ever happens to you, don’t panic! There is most likely an easy fix for it. The common problem with most computer speakers is that there’s a small hole (most of the time located under the feet) that enables you to actually drain water trapped inside the speakers. While this may not be a solution if your speaker was completely submerged in water, it will definitely help extend its life by preventing any damage from occurring due to corrosion or other problems caused by being exposed to too much humidity or having water in it.

Another common problem I’ve seen with speakers is when you pour water over them or spill something sticky like soda on them, and they start to make crackling noises (like the sound you hear when a speaker has too much bass and starts to clip)… If this ever happens, don’t panic! A shot of compressed air into that small hole I talked about earlier should solve the problem until your warranty expires and then you can bring it back for a new one.

Tips #3: Cleaning your speakers regularly

Cleaning your speakers regularly will help keep them in top shape This often scares people because they think “what if I scratch it!?” But truth be told, unless you have some kind of sentimental value behind your speakers, there is nothing wrong with cleaning them.

There are many different products out there that you can use to clean your speakers, so if you’re unsure what would be best I recommend finding a product with high ratings on Amazon or just googling it. The idea is that the cleaner your speakers get, the less likely bugs or dust will affect them and cause damage over time.

Tip #4: Don’t Lend Your Speakers!

This one may seem like common sense but it’s more common than you think for people to forget about this simple rule. It’s easy to say “oh they’ll be fine” when another person asks to play their favorite new game on your speakers while they use some crappy set of headphones… But though you keep everything in mint condition, those speakers will not. It’s better to avoid problems from the start because if you happen to damage your friend’s speakers it may cause them to lose respect for you as a friend and possibly refuse to lend things in the future even if they say otherwise. But as I mentioned above, as long as there is no sentimental value behind your speaker, go ahead and clean it! You can also use this opportunity to show off that geeky side of yours by letting others geek out over how awesome your speakers look!

time something bad happens Granted, even though this was

Tip #5: Cable Management

What is cable management? It’s basically organizing all of your cables behind or underneath your desk to make sure that they don’t get in the way of you moving your chair around. The mistake people often make when purchasing speaker sets like these, is that they would just throw away the packaging and leave all the cables there for their kids to trip over or end up getting caught on something while playing with them. You know what I’m talking about! That one moment where your child trips over a cable falls down and starts screaming at the top of his lungs because he’s hurt himself.

Things You Must Know While Choosing The Best Speakers Under $1500

When it comes to buying speakers, there are so many options available on the market. Investing in the right speaker can be a tough task. When you want to buy a product, you should always look for something that fits your needs and provides value for money. In this article, we’ll tell you about seven features that you should consider before buying the Best speakers under $1500.

 So, let’s get started:

1. The purpose of use:

Speakers come in different designs and sizes. They have different drivers as well as connectivity options. All these factors will determine if a specific speaker is suitable or not for a particular person or a situation. For example, if someone wants to put a sound system in their backyard then she/he needs a specific kind of speaker with a lot of power.

2. Direct vs. Powered:

The speakers that plug into the wall directly are called “passive” speakers. On the other hand, there is this type of speaker which comes with built-in amplifiers and hence these are called “active” or “powered” speakers. In short, powered speakers will require less amplification from your receiver/amplifier when compared to passive ones. Thus, they can provide more detail in a sound without clipping or distortion in sounds even at high volumes. Passive speakers don’t have an amplifier built-in them so you’ll need an external amplifier to power them up instead of a receiver or stereo system.

3. Connectivity:

There are different types of connection options available in the market. Some speakers have wireless connectivity options while some others can be connected through Bluetooth or via cable. The choice between wired and wireless connectivity is mainly based on an individual’s taste and preference.

4. Size:

People may prefer small speakers with huge bass or larger speakers for bigger rooms etc. It will depend on your space requirements as well as desired sound quality when needed to choose the right size for your speaker system.

5. Power Handling:

When you shop for any consumer electronic product, power handling is one of the most important factors that you should consider before buying it. Speakers are no different from other electrical products when it comes to their power requirement specifications. Always look for speakers that can handle the wattage of your receiver or amplifier. Most manufacturers specify RMS and Peak power ratings for their speakers.

6. Price:

Price is another factor to keep in mind before buying speakers. However, do not compromise on quality just because the product is expensive or vice versa. You need to look at products that offer features and specifications matching their price tag and brand value as well. We recommend you speak with a professional speaker dealer who can guide you better if needed.

7. Brand:

Though we said “price” is one of the factors to consider before buying the best speakers under $1500, people usually prefer established brands like Bose or Harman Kardon when it comes to choosing audio equipment such as Headphones, earphones, etc. They are more expensive but most people prefer buying these brands because they trust them and believe that they produce quality products.

Benefits Of Speakers Under $1500

When it comes to speakers under $1500, things can get a bit confusing. There are so many options out there and each of them seems like they will do the trick. As such, you may feel like this is one of the most difficult tasks in your life when trying to purchase your new pair of speakers.

That said, we have done all the hard work for you! Below, find 3 benefits of buying the best speakers under 1500 dollars. Take a look!

To begin with, let’s start with appearance. You want your living room or media room to look good while also being functional. One way to accomplish these two goals is to ensure that your speaker system looks nice once it has been mounted on the wall or placed on a stand. Most speakers under $1500 come in nice-looking pieces that will look great in your space.

Secondly, you should take a look at the size. This is important because you want the sound to travel properly throughout your room without obstructions. As such, if you purchase speakers that are too small for your space, you could end up with some difficulties when trying to enjoy what you are listening to. On top of that, this means that you can get 5 benefits of the best budget home theater system. One benefit is the ease of use and another one is better to size options!

Thirdly, consider durability. Of course, it’s possible to buy speakers for less than 1500 dollars but not all sub-$1500 models are durable. Some have woofers that are flimsy or cabinets that can easily be damaged. For this reason, it is critical to do plenty of research before pulling the trigger on your next purchase.

Lastly, but perhaps most importantly, the frequency response should be considered carefully. Frequency response is basically how well a speaker can reproduce lower frequencies without distortion and vice versa. The human ear cannot hear many highs and lows as they exist in music naturally; those who listen for those elements will want something with an excellent range for its price tag. As such, a 4k blu ray player with speakers would be another option to consider.

Speakers under $1500 offer a lot and so you should consider them strongly. The three benefits we went over in this article are just the tip of the iceberg; there are plenty more out there to take into consideration when picking your speakers or speakers package. Just remember, don’t rush into making such an important purchase!

The Bottom Line

It’s important to find the right speaker for your event, but it can be tough to make a decision. We’ve narrowed down 10 of the best speakers under 1500 dollars so you don’t have to spend too much time looking around. Check out our list and see which one is perfect for your event!
