Buying Guide For The Best Ultrawide Curved Monitor

A lot of gamers are looking beyond the usual size, resolution, and refresh rates. They want something that is more immersive than just a regular computer monitor. The answer to that need is the best ultrawide curved monitor because it gives you an experience like no other monitor can. There are definitely things to consider before buying one though, so read below for some useful tips.

You should know by now, but if your monitor isn’t curved, you might be missing out on big things. Also, check our article about 1440p or 4k gaming  – both worth considering if you have a compatible video card and think you’ll upgrade in the future.

If this article doesn’t help convince curvy screens are what you’ve been waiting for, check out some of our other recommendations in the Related Posts list below.

1. Know your graphics card specs.

Some people don’t realize that not only is the monitor they’re considering curved, but it’s also a 4K one with an ultra-fast refresh rate and G-sync technology, too. If you want to run all that at its best resolution (3840×1080), then make sure your video card can handle it! You know your card will be able to do something like this if it’s either the Nvidia GeForce GTX 980 or AMD Radeon R9 295X2 – both are currently top of their class for gaming performance. So if you have anything less than either of those cards, definitely check before buying anything that its performance is up to the monitor.

2. If you don’t have a good graphics card, look for less demanding specs. But make sure it’s still the best ultrawide curved monitor!

A solid alternative (at least until these cards become more affordable/common) would be an AMD Radeon R9 290 or Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 – both are close in performance and will save you a fair amount of money even with just milder specs than we’re talking about above. The current price difference between them and the previous cards mentioned is well over $200 though, so that might not be as much of a saving as you think, especially if you want all those features listed before too. Or if the budget is no problem, you’ll have a much better time going with one of those cards.

3. 4K is even more demanding than it sounds.

You’ve probably realized by now that 4K isn’t just a monitor’s resolution, especially if your graphics card doesn’t handle it well enough. In the real world, what you get is high-resolution graphics with all sorts of other things included too – like shadows and clothing textures for characters, for example. If your video card only has 2GB of memory (ish), then not only will 4K be very slow to load and play at first until you can upgrade, but any sort of anti-aliasing will be out of the question! Just look at the images below to see how much more you can get out of a 4K image compared to other resolutions.

This is why we recommend getting the best ultrawide curved monitor with your card’s specs in mind! That way, you won’t be stuck needing to upgrade soon after buying the monitor; and even if you do, you’ll have a real top-quality screen that will last for years anyway.

4. If budget is still a problem, then just try to find what’s good without breaking the bank.

Other resolutions might not look as great or perform as well, but 1440p makes up for it by being much cheaper than 4K while still looking fantastic during gameplay – it really depends on what resolution your video card can handle best though. Unfortunately, there are really no monitors that have both 4K resolution and 144Hz refresh rate – they get good enough at one or the other.

5. Know your panel type too.

If you’re after a curved screen, then the choice will be easier because not all monitor manufacturers offer this feature in any of their products. But if you have options, whether it’s between TN vs VA vs IPS, how important is color accuracy for what you do? If the answer is something like “I want everything to look great!”, then don’t overlook VA (and similar) panels because they use better materials when producing their image than TN panels which only go with cheaper substances. The result is deeper blacks and brighter whites that make games look even better than they do on an IPS monitor!

Some people swear by TN panels for their gaming needs, and we can’t really blame them because the technology has always been much cheaper to use and mass-produce (so there’s that competitive edge again). But if you like color accuracy more than speed or price, then don’t be afraid of paying extra just to have it – any high-quality monitor will do this job anyway.

5 Benefits Of An Ultra-Wide Curved Monitor

1. Curved screen enhances the viewing experience

If you enjoy watching movies or playing games on your computer monitor, then getting a curved monitor is something you will not regret doing. The reason for this is that they offer the best cinematic viewing experience. With a curved monitor, you will enjoy full immersion; it offers the effect of looking into a window rather than at a screen which adds to its realism.

2. Curved monitors are an investment for your future

Whether you’re planning to play games or watch movies on your computer monitor , investing in one is something that you should consider doing. Ultrawide curved monitors are not just limited to productivity purposes but they can also be used as entertainment devices – with support for game modes and cinema screens with their 21:9 aspect ratio – they offer unrivaled immersion when playing games or watching movies. When buying an ultrawide curved monitor, bear in mind that their fall within the mid-range market – as opposed to a budget monitor.

3. Ultrawide curved monitors offer quick and easy multitasking

Whether you’re looking for a bigger screen to increase your work efficiency or just want more space for multitasking, then an ultrawide curved monitor is something that you should consider investing in. This is because they have the ability to provide enough screen space so users can view multiple documents at once without having to switch between pages – with each window taking up half of the screen – which makes them ideal productivity screens. Even if you plan on using them for gaming purposes, playing racing games and FPS feels even more immersive and realistic than before due to their enhanced field of vision with curved screens.

4. Curved ultrawide monitors are the future of PC displays

Since their introduction, curved ultrawide monitors have grown in popularity and so has their appeal. Because they offer an immersive viewing experience, whether you’re playing games or watching movies, they allow users to view more information at once than any other monitor type on the market. If you think about it, this makes sense because due to the nature of human vision, our peripheral vision is able to pick up more details compared to looking straight ahead. This applies even for ultra-widescreen displays which feel perfectly natural considering that our eyes are already used to seeing larger displays without borders thanks to smartphones.

5. Curved monitors are easy on your eyes

If you spend hours working at a computer, then you might find it hard to focus on your work if you’re using a traditional monitor. This is because they lack ergonomics and this means that there’s no way for you to adjust them in order to reduce strain on your eyes; not only that, but it can be uncomfortable having to look at the display from the same angle for hours without any change. Ultrawide curved monitors like VA panel-based displays, offer increased viewing angles and by doing so they allow users to see content clearly without any color shifting which makes them ideal when compared with other monitor types such as TN panels.

Why Do You Need An Ultrawide Curved Monitor?

With the increase in popularity of ultrawide monitors, there has been an influx of manufacturers entering the space. As a result, this has given rise to many types of curved monitors, from budget to high-end and even those that are curved ultra-wide. If you’re considering buying one as your next PC monitor, then it is important that you know what makes them special and how they can benefit you.

Are Ultrawide Monitors Good For Work?

Are ultrawide monitors good for work? The answer to this question may seem obvious because you know that someone who works on a computer all day needs as much screen real estate as they can get. You might even reason that an ultrawide monitor is better than two (or more) separate displays side-by-side because it’s one continuous space with no bezel in the middle. But you need to take into account much more than just the physical dimensions of the display when thinking about how good an ultrawide monitor could be for your workflow. If you’ve done any research at all, then you have probably come across articles saying that an ultrawide monitor will improve productivity by up to 30%.

Ultrawide monitors have a 21:9 aspect ratio while the standard is 16:9. If you’re used to scrolling vertically or moving windows from one side of the screen to the other, then you’ll definitely notice some adjustment time when switching to an ultrawide monitor. The resolution for most ultrawide monitors is 2560×1080 while typical resolutions are 1920×1080 and 3840×2160 (commonly called 4K). If you aren’t using your computer’s native resolution, then this can cause complications because video cards don’t always scale properly.

In addition to these issues, many applications don’t take advantage of the extra space afforded by an ultrawide monitor. If you use applications that allow custom aspect ratios, then you can work around this problem by using a resolution that better fits the content. For example, if you’re primarily editing 16:9 video and your ultrawide monitor’s native resolution is 2560×1080 but the footage is 1920×1080, then you might be able to fit more on the screen by changing your resolution to 1920×1080. Ultrawide monitors are great for multitasking between several different resolutions because it allows users to quickly shift between various tasks without having to change their workspace as much as they might with multiple displays.

What Is A Good Size Ultrawide Monitor For Gaming?

Ultrawide monitors are all the rage in gaming circles. They provide a wider field of view, which can improve your ability to spot threats. But what is the best size monitor for gaming?

Best Ultrawide Size Monitor for Gaming: 49-inches

The most powerful ultrawide gaming monitor on this list is also the largest: Acer’s XR382CQK. This monster of a display boasts an ultra-wide resolution of 3840×1600 pixels or a 21:9 aspect ratio. It has FreeSync support and a 100Hz refresh rate at that resolution. It has DisplayHDR 600 certification so you get bright colors while still having deep blacks and everything in between without looking washed out like other monitors with less accurate color.

You might be more of a console gamer, though, in which case you’ll want to get the best value out of your machine (it doesn’t matter how much money you spend on an ultrawide monitor if your console can’t run games at 21:9 resolutions). This number is quite subjective depending on what kind of player you are and what type of game it is, but for most people with consoles looking for an upgrade, I’d say aim to get one in the 40-43″ size range.

40-inch ultrawide monitors are around half the price per square inch when compared with their 27-inch counterparts, so they are very good value no matter how you look at them. With that said, even for console gaming at 1080p, I’d say get the bigger monitor, unless you’re looking to save some money on a new TV for your main living room.

If you’re wondering why such a large size is such good value for gamers, it’s because bigger screens often require lower resolutions to keep people from getting headaches and seeing individual pixels (which can happen even with 1440p ultrawide), so having more screen space makes up for the resolution decrease.

We’ve discovered the best ultrawide curved monitor for your viewing pleasure. Did you know that there are a number of different factors to consider when selecting an ultrawide, curved, or flat-screen? The size and resolution of the display can have a big impact on how it looks in person, so we recommend going to see them before making any decisions!  Be sure to check out our list below if you’re looking for something specific like color accuracy, response time, or even game compatibility.
